Botulinum toxin for suitable facial areas, planned after an in-person assessment.
Botox is a well-known brand of botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily relaxes the muscles it is injected into. In the face it is mostly used to soften expression lines, such as frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
It works on lines caused by movement rather than on lines that are visible at rest or on loss of volume. Used carefully, it softens expression without freezing the face. Other uses, such as reducing jaw clenching or excessive sweating, are assessed separately.
These are general points only. Whether a treatment is suitable for you is decided by the treating clinician after examining you in person and reviewing your medical history and current medication.
You share photos and a short description of what bothers you. The clinician gives a first view of which options may help and which are unlikely to.
The clinician examines your face and skin, goes through your medical history and explains the expected effect, its limits and the risks before you consent.
The clinician marks the injection points while you make expressions, then places small doses with a very fine needle. No numbing is usually needed.
You receive written aftercare instructions and a contact for questions. A review is arranged in person or by photos, depending on how long you stay.
Avoid touching or massaging the treated area unless the clinician tells you to, and skip make-up, alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas and hot baths.
Stay upright and avoid lying down, bending over for long periods or pressing on the treated area.
The effect starts after a few days and reaches its full level at around two weeks. This is when any small adjustment is assessed.
Muscle movement gradually returns. Treatment can be repeated, usually no more often than every three months.
Timelines vary between people. Always follow the aftercare instructions from your treating clinic.
Not when the dose and placement are planned for natural movement. The aim is to soften lines while keeping your expressions; ask the clinician to explain how much movement you can expect.
The effect usually begins after three to five days and is complete at about two weeks.
Flying is generally not a problem for this treatment, but most clinicians suggest staying upright for the first few hours and avoiding pressure on the treated area. Follow the advice you are given on the day.
Most injectable and skin treatments take a single appointment, but staying nearby for at least one or two days afterwards lets the clinic see you if anything unexpected happens. Your coordinator confirms timings and how the follow-up review will work once you are home.
It depends on the treatment plan the clinician recommends after examining you, for example the areas treated, the amount of product and the number of sessions. You receive a written quote before anything is booked, with no obligation to proceed.
Share your details and a coordinator will reply with clear next steps. There is no obligation to proceed.
